Before you log your first trip, you must take a clear photograph of your vehicle's dashboard showing the current odometer reading. Furthermore, SARS requires you to take a new photograph on the 1st of every month to verify your monthly opening and closing balances.

Simply link your account to a new device to download your historical data, instantly export your SARS logbook, and claim your tax back hassle-free at the end of the financial year.
Step 1: Install the App
- Tap the download button above to save the Kilo file directly to your phone.
- Tap the downloaded file in your notifications or downloads folder to install it.
- Note: Your phone might warn you that the app is from an Unknown Source. This is normal for Beta apps! Just tap Settings, toggle on Allow from this source, and hit Install.
Step 2: The Golden Permissions
Because Kilo works perfectly in the background while your screen is off, your phone needs permission to let it run.
- Open Kilo. When it asks for Location, select "Allow all the time".
- Pro-Tip: Go to your phone's Settings -> Apps -> Kilo -> Battery, and select "Unrestricted." This stops your phone from killing the tracker while it's in your pocket!
Step 3: Start Driving
- Open the app, hit the green "Start Trip" button, and lock your screen. When you arrive, hit "Stop Trip."
- Check your "Ledger" tab to see your SARS-compliant entry perfectly synced to the cloud.
